For a healthy mouth and smile, we recommend having your teeth cleaned at least twice a year. Our dentists may recommend more frequent visits with patients that have special needs. Each patient receives a periodontal disease screening, oral cancer screening, and a comprehensive exam.

The comprehensive exam is recommended once a year. A comprehensive exam is highly recommended to prevent the onset of mouth pain, infections, tooth decay or tooth loss.

A complete set of x-rays is the first step in a thorough dental examination. We use x-rays to find cavities between your teeth, tartar on the roots of your teeth, worn out fillings, receding bone levels caused by periodontal disease and other conditions we can not find with a normal exam. Without x-rays, we wouldn’t be able to detect these problems until they had become severe and damage had already occurred.

Routine dental exams, cleaning and x-rays are all important for a beautiful and healthy smile.

Sealants to prevent dental decay:
A sealant is a thin, plastic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars (the teeth directly) in front of the molars). And we have seen that sealants are very effective in the prevention of cavities.
