Periodontal disease, often known as gum disease, is an infection of the tissues and bones that support the teeth. Gum disorders affect adults in their 30s and 40s for a variety of reasons, including poor dental health, hereditary susceptibility, chronic conditions including diabetes, smoking, and certain drugs.

Scaling and root planing is a common periodontal disease treatment (SRP). Cleaning the surfaces of teeth and their roots, which may be exposed owing to gum recession, is a non-invasive procedure.

Tissue preservation, regeneration, and bone-building are all benefits of laser treatment. The dentist uses a laser to enter an infected pocket in general dentistry to eliminate the affected tissue and microorganisms. Instead of scraping with hand instruments, the calculus is removed with an ultrasonic root cleaner once the diseased tissue has been removed and the root has been exposed. Finally, laser radiation is used to warm the stem cell in the pocket that contains blood, resulting in a tissue seal against the tooth root.

No tissue is intentionally removed or gum tissue is decreased to a lower level during laser treatment. It also encourages stem cells to generate new connective tissues, bone, and collagen in the tissues. The body’s healing process subsequently replaces the ligaments and bones that have been lost surrounding the tooth.
