Q1. What is considered a dental emergency?
Ans: A dental emergency is when one has pain or if there is swelling.
Q2. When do I need to see an emergency dentist versus going to the emergency room versus scheduling a regular dental appointment?
Ans: You need to see an emergency dentist if your pain and swelling is localized. But if your swelling is spreading rapidly and you're having difficulty breathing, swallowing, or if the infection is going to your eye, you have to go to the emergency room. For a regular dental appointment, you would come in if you're not in any particular pain but have a cracked or chipped tooth.
Q3. What are common types of dental emergencies and what can be done?
Ans: The common types of dental emergencies include a toothache, an abscess or swelling, and issues with wisdom teeth, which we may need to extract. Jaw pain can be treated with a proper night guard. You can have bleeding or inflamed gums, for which we would do the appropriate gum therapy. People also experience teeth sensitivity, and you can have a broken filling, a broken crown, or a broken denture. All of these are considered dental emergencies.
Q4. When do I need an emergency dental extraction?
Ans: You would need an emergency dental extraction if your wisdom teeth have flared up and you're experiencing pain and swelling. You would also need an emergency extraction if your tooth is broken down to the gum line because the cavity has progressed to the point where it's just kind of broken down to the root.
Q5. Why might I need an emergency root canal?
Ans: You may need an emergency root canal if you have a cavity that has grown deep inside the nerve of the tooth, the inner core, and the infection has contained itself, making it untreatable with a filling any longer. So, you would end up needing a root canal.
Q6. Do you offer same-day care?
