Biological Dentistry in Plantation, FL

Hi, my name is Dr. Rizvi with My Dentist For Life here in Plantation, and I get lots of questions asked about holistic dentistry. So today, I wanted to take some time to answer some of the most commonly asked questions.

What is holistic dentistry?

Holistic dentistry is an integrative or a biological approach to dentistry.

What are the advantages of holistic dentistry?

The advantages of holistic dentistry are that we use biocompatible materials and we are looking at less toxic materials that are not harmful to the body. We also use minimally invasive techniques, trying to keep as much of the natural tooth structure as possible. Additionally, we have alternative therapies such as ozone therapy to help kill off the bacteria deep inside the cavity and in gum disease.

How does holistic dentistry differ from general or traditional dentistry?

Holistic dentistry differs from traditional dentistry in which we take some extra steps to help clean up the infections that we find in the mouth, such as using ozone gas and ozone water underneath the cavities once we clean everything out. We also use ozone gas underneath the gums once we are treating gum infections, and we are also safely removing the mercury fillings in a manner in which it does not become toxic for the patient.

What are materials or substances are avoided in holistic dentistry?

The materials that are avoided in holistic dentistry are anything that contains BPA, and we are avoiding mercury that can become very toxic and make you sick.

How does the effectiveness or outcomes of holistic dentistry compare to that of non-holistic approaches?

The effectiveness of the holistic approach compared to traditional approaches is that, number one, we are looking at longevity because we are cleaning everything at a cellular level. We are able to maintain the restorations for a longer period of time. We are able to effectively clean up any kind of gum infections with the ozone therapy that we're using, and they're just very safe.

Each vertebra of the spine has a unique influence on a specific part of the body. Similarly, each tooth is connected to a corresponding organ or action. By addressing dental problems, healing should be promoted throughout your entire body. Oral conditions such as periodontal disease and other manifestations of poor gum health have dramatic implications on other systems within our body, including the heart, lungs, and the brain. Certain oral treatments, such as the use of mercury and other dangerous substances, have been shown to have profoundly negative implications for our overall health. We are committed to providing treatment that works to proactively expand upon your comprehensive health and avoid potentially harmful substances during the treatment process.
